Congruent Intentions

God's intention for marriage is this:

...a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.  (Genesis 2:24 NIV)

If we honor him, he will honor us and help us.

Consequently, it is important we have the same intention.

I use this blog to process my intuition.  It helps me explain to others where I am coming from and it gives me closure.

Since I freely receive my insights, I freely give them to others by making my blog public.  Hopefully, people find my efforts useful.

Some earlier posts were about understanding my marriage.  Since my wife died, many of the posts deal with the situation I find myself in, desiring what I had with her while comprehending the challenges and landscape of the world in which I hope to find relationship and love.

It has been a fascinating journey.

I have gleaned what the Bible has to offer, and it is reliable, but the simple logic of it taken at face value can be sterile and judgmental.

I have learned I must apply "introverted intuition" which uses logic but also takes into account many other aspects.  How does pure logic actually fit into the larger picture?

Sometimes going back to the basics provides the most clarity.

I have learned so-called "marriage licenses" are actually contracts with corporations, where the corporation makes the rules and enjoys all the benefits.  Middlemen have connived the scheme to make a profit at the expense of living men, women and children.

The institutional church is the same thing, middlemen getting involved to supposedly help people do the right thing.  Again, corporations and profit are involved.

My recent realizations about "separability" are helping me move in the direction I believe I need go in this matter.  Establishing a "commitment" to make others happy is actually tying myself to a set of constraints and expectations that will soon disappear.  To avoid being caught up in that judgement, I must prepare to allow those things to go away while I survive.

The word "commitment" was actually the roadblock preventing union with my Twin when we first met because it had previously been a key discussion point of my blog posts.

I now realize commitment is about meeting the expectations of others.

This morning, I further realize the important word to focus on is "intention."

My parents modeled a good marital relationship and I intended that model for myself.  They taught me well, simply by their behavior.

Because of that, I cultivated the same kind of relationship with my wife during our years together.  It was not always easy, but it was very rewarding.

I have realized Isaac and Rebekah simply did the basics.  Their intention was to be husband and wife, and that is what they did.  "And he loved her."

That is what I hope to emulate.  It is just between the two people and ADONAI.  He is the one who makes it happen and he is the one who helps them when necessary.

I have observed when people contract with the state-of-state through a marriage license and/or involve a religious tradition to facilitate their union they turn to those institutions when they have difficulties.  And there are always difficulties.

Recently, a woman with children told me her husband was angry and physically did something to her not resulting in harm, and he is now in jail subject to a "court" administering the marriage license contract.  She said he is "bipolar," which both of us believe is a spiritual issue, yet she is putting the situation into the hands of men, and unbeknownst to her those men are profiting greatly from it.  That is their motivation, not justice or the safety of those involved.

Spiritual issues must be dealt with spiritually, and God is the only one who can ultimately make any difference.  Idolatry doesn't fix anything.

I have also observed many people lose sight of the importance of the "one flesh" aspect of marriage and they end up living as roommates, ...with a mortgage.  Again, what takes precedence is the "contract," while the intended results atrophy and disappear.

Not me!

As for me and my house, my intentions will be congruent with those of my Maker, and that is what matters!

All glory to Him!
